Summary
In this course module, we cover intermediate Excel skills for Document Control professionals. We use a case study: how to improve the operability, the ergonomics and the exploitability of a Document Register.
This course targets an audience of Document Controllers who consider themselves as intermediate in the use of Microsoft Excel.
It also is a natural progression for users who consider themselves as beginners and who have already completed course EXL-1A - “Excel for Document Controllers -

The course guides the learner in reducing manual operations and manual data entry in Excel-based Document Registers to a minimum. This is done through automation and streamlining of a number of
operations, in order to maximise efficiency. This, in turn, allows Document Controllers to spend more time on value-adding activities.
At the end of the course, the learner will know how to:
01) Automatically display today’s date on an Excel sheet
02) Find and remove duplicates in a register
03) Identify late deliveries by automatically highlighting late documents or late reviews
04) Filter a register by cell colours, cell patterns and by dates
05) Protect cells against accidental deletion
06) Protect and unprotect Excel sheets
07) Remove conditional formatting
08) Fix the reference of a cell in a formula
09) Ask Excel to leave a cell blank if a certain condition is met
10) Automatically highlight actions a few days before their due date
11) Use formulas to automatically number documents
12) Apply a solution when cell formats refuse to change from text to number
13) Automatically identifying the highest numerical value in a group of cells
